Michelle Grimes

Director

Meet Michelle, founder of Maven Hair. In 2014, after almost 20 years in the business, Michelle opened the doors to her own studio. Feeling a change rising through Ireland’s hairdressing industry, she sought a new and fresh approach to hairdressing; sensing many people were now jaded with the generic big salon experience. She wanted to provide a more personal approach to hair and was acutely aware many stylists around the country wanted to be a part of this shift in attitude.

Michelle wanted to create a “relaxed, creative and inspiring environment” for stylists where their individualism was nurtured; a space where they were encouraged to spend time with their clients, rather than viewing them as an entry in the business timetable. And so, Maven was born…

You’ve got to give it to her, the lady is a dab hand in every aspect of her field – cutting, colouring and dressing hair. Whether it’s hair up, loose and down, short and blunt or choppy, she’s a doer of all types of hair and works great with them all. With a Master Colour Award, not to mention the highest level of exams in Ireland under her belt, Michelle sees education as a key element in raising standards into the future.

All this has allowed her to teach advanced cutting and upstyling prior to the opening of Maven. You may also have seen her mixing-it-up on Xspose and Off the Rails or viewed her work in magazines such as U, VIP, Confetti and Image Brides. Michelle also contributes hair tips and forecasts on Xspose.ie.

Likes: Her two gorgeous and crazy kids, music, interiors, fashion, food and travelling. She’s loving a bit of Dingle gin at the moment…

Dislikes: Ignorance and being hungry!

Claim(s) to Fame: Oh, she has a few….  She’s shot some hoops with Kings of Leon, had food fights with The Strokes, hung out in a van for the night with The Beta Band and has had the chats with Gaz Coombes and Paul Weller. Watching a gig beside Roisin Murphy has been her highlight so far.
